Gravner is the ultimate ‘orange wine’ producer – hallowed, emulated, copied but never equalled. He has long held the crown as Friuli’s top winemaker and one of the very best in the whole of Italy.
Fermented in amphora in contact with its skins (from which it gets the colour!) and then aged in large oak barrels for a whopping 6 years! This unfiltered wine has a lovely amber hue with natural cloudiness.
Expect aromas of apricot, peach, herbs, beeswax, dried fruits and dried flowers. Full-bodied, intense with an extraordinary richness and complexity. Beautifully fresh, supported by gentle minerality with undertones of tobacco smoke and wet stone. An amazingly complex wine with a huge breadth of fruits in additon to floral and herbal notes. The finish is incredibly long with pleasant firm tannins and a delicious gripping texture.
Treat this Ribolla as a light red wine: let it breathe for at least a few minutes before serving just slightly chilled.
